C. The Idea
•
According to Robert Yount the song came, when they talked about divorce, and
Miller wondered if there was some kind of releasing from current relatonship.
•
The writers worked on the song before a gig and came
up with the basic version in about an hour.
•
The
idea for the song came to Country music songwriter Eddie Miller in a bar in San
Francisco.
•
He
overheard a husband and wife talking about their marital troubles. The wife
said, "If you'd release me, we wouldn't have any problems and everything
would be all right."

D. Analysis (The Lyric)
Please release me, let me go
A man begs a woman
to let him go but a woman keeps him to be with her
For I don't love you anymore
For I don't love you anymore
Because he does
not love her again
To waste our lives would be a sin
To waste our lives would be a sin
And being with
her is useless now
Release me and let me love again
Release me and let me love again
A man begs a
woman to love the best one
I have found a new love, dear
He gets someone
who was the best
And I will always want her near
And I will always want her near
He wants to be
next to her forever
Her lips are warm while yours are cold
Her lips are warm while yours are cold
She also really
loves him
Release me, my darling, let me go
Release me, my darling, let me go
A man begs a
woman to let him go but a woman keeps him to be with her
Please release me, can't you see
He keeps begging
to her to let him go
You'd be a fool to cling to me
You'd be a fool to cling to me
Because keeping
him as a boyfriend would be useless
To live our lives would bring us pain
To live our lives would bring us pain
Becoming
together will give bad impact to both
So release me and let me love again
So release me and let me love again
He keeps begging
to her to love another woman
