Hello, everyone.
We as humans have emotion, don't we? But do we know what emotion is? In this moment, I would like to share regarding several definitions of emotion according to some experts or researchers that I have collected from any sources. Here we go.
1. Solomon (2020)
emotion is a complex experience of consciousness, bodily sensation, and behavior that reflects the personal significance of a thing, an event, or a state of affairs. Emotions are all those feelings that so change men as to affect their judgments, and that are also attended by pain or pleasure. Such are anger, pity, fear, and the like, with their opposites. Emotion is indeed a heterogeneous category that comprises a wide variety of important psychological phenomena. Some emotions are very specific, insofar as they concern a particular person, object, or situation. Others, such as distress, joy, or depression, are very general . Some emotions are very brief and barely conscious, such as a sudden flush of embarrassment or a burst of anger.
2. Cowen (2018)
Most scientists believe that emotions involve things other than just feelings. They involve bodily reactions as people’s heart races because they feel excited. They also involve expressive movements, including facial expressions and sounds. People utilize many different words to depict the emotions that they feel. Emotions could be boiled down to five or six types.
