(Bawang Merah and Bawang Putih) |
Once upon a time, in a small
village, there lived a beautiful and kind-hearted girl named Bawang Putih. She
lived with her father, who was a widower. One day, her father decided to
remarry, and Bawang Putih gained a stepmother and a stepsister named Bawang
Merah.
Bawang Putih's stepmother and
stepsister were cruel and lazy. They treated Bawang Putih like a servant,
making her do all the household chores. Despite their mistreatment, Bawang
Putih remained kind and patient. One day, while washing clothes in
the river, Bawang Putih accidentally lost her stepmother's favorite scarf. She
was afraid of her stepmother's anger, so she went to look for it. She followed
the river and met an old woman who had found the scarf. The old woman agreed to
return the scarf on one condition: Bawang Putih had to help her with the
chores. Bawang Putih agreed and
diligently helped the old woman. When she finished, the old woman gave her a
choice of two pumpkins: one large and one small. Bawang Putih, being humble,
chose the small pumpkin. When she got home, her stepmother
and stepsister were curious about the pumpkin. When they opened it, they were
surprised to find it filled with precious jewels. Seeing this, Bawang Merah
became envious and wanted to have the same wealth. Bawang Merah followed Bawang
Putih's steps, intentionally losing her mother's scarf in the river. She met
the old woman and agreed to help her, but she did it half-heartedly and
complained. When she was given the choice of pumpkins, she greedily chose the
large one. When she got home and opened the
pumpkin, she and her mother were shocked to find it filled with venomous snakes
and scorpions. They were bitten and died, paying the price for their greed and
cruelty. Bawang Putih, on the other hand,
lived happily ever after, using the jewels to help the villagers and spreading
kindness wherever she went. The End This story teaches us the importance of kindness, patience, and humility. It also warns us about the consequences of greed and cruelty. |
