Tragedy of Common Man in Abortion - Eugene O'Neill written by Irfan Suryana

Besides Death of Salesman by Arthur Miller is called as tragedy of common man, Abortion by Eugene O'Neill also is called tragedy of common man. Why?

Because the main character of Abortion is Jack Townsend.  His life was perfect. He was in high class, popular university student, rich, and loved by his friend and family. In his celebration  of his victory he got crucial problem. Murray came to Parade and he asked Jack Townsend of his responsibility. His sister, Nelli, died because of Jack. He sent a doctor to Nelli so that she could abort her womb. Jack Townsend offered money to Murray so that he would not tell that problem to anyone. That money was from his father as his help to Jack. Jack was remorseful what he had done and he was more confused because Murray would report him to the police station. He could not face those realities and he was too much afraid about his reputation if people knew about his problem. In the end, Jack Townsend sprang up and rushed into his bedroom on the right and he reeled to table and saw the revolver lying there, So, he killed himself by firing the revolver to his temple.
